CWC at twenty years and more!

PictureThree founders at the 20th CWC&R
The Clockhouse Writers' Conference (CWC) was founded in 1997, based on seemingly simple ideas that are enshrined in the Founding Principles and that have guided us ever since.

While hewing to those Founding Principles, CWC has also grown quite a bit. What began as a small gathering of MFAW alumni, returning to Vermont to attend their friends' summer-time graduation, is now an annual summer Clockhouse Conference & Retreat on Goddard's Plainfield, Vermont, campus.

When Goddard expanded to a campus in Pt. Townsend, Washington, so did CWC, with a winter Lighthouse Conference & Retreat. What's more, CWC also began publication of the literary journal CLOCKHOUSE in partnership with Goddard College and the MFAW program.

CWC celebrated these endeavors and our 20th anniversary during the 2017 Clockhouse Writers' Conference & Retreat. Three of our founders, Lucinda Garthwaite, Maureen Dunphy and Chrystal Wing, were able to attend and offer their thoughts on this special occasion. See a presentation of the twenty-year history of CWC, along with great photos, here.

One of the loveliest events during our 20th Anniversary celebration was the creation of a group commemorative poem. Please read that here, and please help carry the memory of the past twenty years and the spirit of CWC into its next decades!
